As a seasoned traveler, I wanted to share some travel tips for 2022 that I recently came across. With the current climate of uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus and COVID-19 epidemic, many people’s travel plans have changed or are on hold for a while. For the moment the recommendation is to stay home, stay safe. However, with calm and determination, before we know it, we all hope travel will once again be possible. Here are some travel tips for 2022 that should make your vacations safe and enjoyable.
Travel Tip #1 – Use Small Suitcase
A top travel tip for 2022 is to travel light and use a small suitcase or backpack instead of a huge bag. A lighter load makes it easier to get around and can increase the ease of mobility. When you need to get somewhere fast, or need to move quickly through a crowded space, traveling light just makes sense.
Travel Tip #2 – Avoid Crowded Areas
Although many top tourist attractions draw large crowds, it is a good idea to avoid large crowds and busy locations while traveling. You can also plan to do sightseeing early in the morning when less people will be out and about. When possible, try to walk or ride bikes to get fresh air while you are exploring new destinations. Public transportation means there is an increased risk of germs and diseases such as COVID-19 due to the high number of people that use the services.
Travel Tip # 3 – Good Hygiene Practices
In addition to keeping your distance from others, it is important to practice good hygiene habits at home and while traveling. Wash your hands regularly, avoid sick people, and use disinfecting wipes to clean off any surfaces that may come in contact with germs such as the coronavirus. Avoid touching your hands, face or eyes. Warm water and soap are highly effective in cleaning dirty hands. Hand sanitizer or gel is a good choice as well if you are not able to wash your hands. Also, avoid shaking hands, hugs or kisses while traveling to keep yourself and others safe.
Travel Tip #4 – Digital Maps
While wandering around aimlessly is actually a great way to explore new locations on vacation, don’t be afraid to use a map. There are loads of online maps you can access from your phone. Or a good old fashioned paper map can be useful as well, just make sure you clean it well before use.
Travel Tip #5 – Carry an Extra Bank Card
When traveling, there are fees that most banks charge to use ATM’s to withdraw money. However, most cards allow you to use your card for purchases without added fees. Check with your specific credit card company to verify the rules and regulations for your credit card. Also, in case you happen to lose a card, it is a good idea to have a back-up card for emergencies. That way, if you lose your card or have it stolen, you won’t be caught without a way to access your bank account.
I hope these travel tips for 2022 are useful for my fellow members. Before you know it, we should be ready to take vacations again.
